Extend and modernise a tired 1930’s two storey property
The project at Grenville Cottage was to build an extension and transform a tired 1930’s two storey property into a luxurious contemporary holiday retreat for the family
The key brief from the client was as follows…
- To work to a strict budget with the help of the Architect
- To project manage the process and work closely with the Architect, Engineer and Client to create a stunning dwelling with the set budget constraint
- To build a dwelling that would make the best use of the exceptional views of the Salcome Estuary
- To excavate beneath the existing dwelling to form bedrooms at basement level
- To extend upwards within the roof for a new kitchen, utility and dining room area overlooking the estuary
- To modernise all the internal spaces with a contemporary design
- To use frameless glass on a steel frame structure to capture the views over Salcome
