Demolition & construction of a contemporary house

This project involved the demolition of an existing property and the construction of a modern, contemporary house in keeping with the surrounding properties.

The design maximises the dwellings location and the views out over Dartmouth towards the castle.

The house incorporates extremely high levels of specification and the Architects concluded that the standards of workmanship should be ‘flawless’

The main points of the brief were as follows

  • Keep site disruption and noise to a minimum
  • To incorporate the latest construction techniques in accordance the current building regulations
  • The erect a fully enclosed scaffolding over the entire footprint of the building once the basement walls had been constructed. This was in order to keep all the materials as dry as possible to help minimise any future shrinkage within the building
  • The specification included under floor heating on all floors. Computer controlled intelligent lighting circuits. iPod audio system to dedicated rooms. Whole house ventilation system. Renewable energy system. Powder coated ‘floating’ steel and glass staircase. Interior designed bath and shower rooms
